Katie Holmes' marriage to Tom Cruise was far from perfect, and when the couple divorced in 2012, Tom's hold on Katie got even more serious. As part of the divorce agreement, Katie is not allowed to date other men in public at least for five years after the divorce. The said agreement is to prevent her from shaming Cruise in public. Additionally, Katie's boyfriend is not allowed near their daughter, Suri.

Several sources online confirmed the rumor saying "Katie signed a clause in her quickie divorce settlement that prevents her from embarrassing Tom in various ways, like talking about him or Scientology, or publicly dating another man for five years after the divorce,”

Katie and Tom Divorce

According to Yahoo!, Katie Holmes wanted the divorce so bad that she immediately agreed to the terms. She further agreed that after the divorce, she is not to talk about Tom Cruise over the media, nor say anything about Scientology for that matter. That said, Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx's relationship was kept under wraps until the five-year agreement is over.

On June 2017, according to the report, the said agreement expires, hence the appearance of Katie and Jamie in public.

The couple's relationship has been rumored for years, but luckily, they were able to work on something that makes them less of a media target. On April, Jamie and Katie were spotted dining together in an NYC restaurant. The 38-year-old actress was seen wearing a leather jacket and sunglasses while Jamie wore a white Fedora. Apparently, they were able to work their meetings that it didn't post a threat to her divorce settlement with Tom Cruise.

Scientology ruined marriage

In a report by the Daily Mail in June 2016, Katie Holmes divorced Tom Cruise because she feared she would end up like Nicole Kidman.

It was further reported that since Scientology practices "disconnection policy," Holmes feared that her daughter, Suri will likely disown her if she continues to get exposed to the religion.

Father of Scientology leader Ron Miscavige, 80, said: "It's a toxic policy that ruins lives. Katie just didn't want that to happen, so she left." Nicole Kidman's situation was nothing short of different from Katie. Hers, on the other hand, went as far as her daughter Bella turning away from her after she and Tom divorced.

Katie Holmes' divorce from Tom Cruise earned her $4.5 million child support and another $5 million for Katie. Tom and Katie have not talked publicly about their divorce but remain good and responsible parents to their daughter, Suri.
