"Rick and Morty" is one of the most anticipated American animated series and fans have been hoping for Season 4 to arrive. Instead, Adult Swim launched what could be a hopeless stunt on April Fools directing fans to the channel's website for an incredible surprise. Of course, if you're a fan you will hope for the best and it could only mean a brand new season. Unfortunately, that's now how it went. A fake "Rick and Morty" short came up performed by the characters of "Bushworld Adventures."
Adult Swim's 'Rick and Morty' prank
According to the Polygon, Adult Swim broadcast the invitation to visit their website shortly after the hustle and bustle of April 1 were coming to an end.
Fans were quick to respond only to find out that they were tricked into viewing the Bushworld Adventure short. Interestingly, it wasn't totally a misleading prank as the characters brutally sensationalized "Rick and Morty's" apparent abusive relationship.
Everything about the 10-minute short featured some similar theme to that of "Rick and Morty," but other than that, it was a total waste of time and crushed hopes. Co-creatorsJustin Roiland and Dan Harmon failed to announce any upcoming "Rick and Morty Season 4" series, unlike during the series' third season wherein the fans were treated to the ever-popular McDonald's Szechuan sauce.
The fate of the series' season 4 premiere
According to the latest news, the creators of "Rick and Morty" are far from creating a brand new season.
They cited the ongoing negotiation with Adult Swim as the reason for the delay. According to Gamespot, the stunt wasn't even a premiere teaser, adding more disappointment to the fans. In a Twitter post by Roiland, he asked the fans to ask Turner about Season 4 because apparently, it's not in his hands. Meanwhile, he is busy creating video games while on break.
Harmon, on the other hand, admits the negotiation between the creators and Adult Swim have become difficult at this time, hence the delay of the new season. Writer and producer Ryan Ridley said fans may be able to get a glimpse of the new season's first episode in the second half of 2019. But this is not a concrete announcement, leaving fans hanging for the next episode.
"Rick and Morty" is an animated series that tells the story of a sociopathic scientist named Rick who makes it a habit to include his grandchildren Morty and Summer in some of his incredible and insane adventures.
