In the past two seasons of “Lucifer,” we saw how Chloe and Lucifer Morningstar were inseparable. They always found a way to work together. However, this is not the case in season 3. This time, the detective tries her best to stay away if possible.

There is no mistaking that Chloe (Lauren German) and Lucifer is good at their job. They are at their best when they work together. It is for this reason that they are partners in crime. However, Chloe suddenly decides to work by herself in Season 3 because of what her colleagues think. According to showrunner Ildy Modrovich when the show opens, the detective scrambles “to get out from Lucifer’s crimesolving shadow.” “At the beginning of the season she realizes that she’s starting to be identified as Lucifer’s partner, and she’s kind of like, ‘Wait a second, he’s my partner!'” Modrovich tells TV Line.

Lucifer sticks with Chloe

However, the devil always finds a way to be near Chloe. He knows where she lives and works. He also likes working as a detective so this presents a problem for Chloe. The trailer for Season 3 shows that they still work together. So getting away from Lucifer Morningstar may be easier said than done.

The devil’s perspective

Lucifer still sees Chloe as the person in command, regardless if her peers identify her as his partner rather than the other way around. Furthermore, he believes that he and the detective share a special connection, so he does not mind what the people think. However, being regarded as Chloe’s superior may just boost his ego a bit.

Likewise, it is worth mentioning that in “Lucifer” Season 3 the devil may have to compete for Chloe’s affection.

A newcomer at work by the name of Lieutenant Marcus Pierce (Tom Welling) catches her eye much to the devil’s chagrin. It is safe to assume that Lucifer might be sticking around at the station more often than necessary.

Chloe’s feelings for Lucifer

It is also be worth mentioning that Chloe Decker has romantic feelings for Lucifer Morningstar.

A moment away from him may be a struggle for her already. She even lashed out at him when he left without a word in Season 2. To recap, in the midseason finale Lucifer left Los Angeles and disappeared with no one knowing his whereabouts. He left in a rush after he went back to Hell to save Chloe. Prior to this, he learned that she is a gift from God to a couple who could not have children. He believed that God sent Chloe on his path to manipulate him so he left to stay away from her.
