Sylvester Stalone announced the news that all "Rocky" fans have been waiting more than three decades to hear. Stallone claims that Rocky Balboa will be stepping into the ring once again to fight Ivan Drago!

This news was reported on Thursday, August 3 by TMZ and according to Sylvester Stallone himself the fight rematch will be taking place in "Creed 2." Stallone has mildly teased fans in the past about a Balboa/Drago reunion in "Creed 2" however, he would not reveal what the potential storyline would have been.

Many "Creed" and "Rocky" fans speculated that Balboa and Drago would meet up in the "Creed 2" film when Apollo's son and Drago's were matched up against each other. This could still be a possibility. But now some believe that fighter and Drago will cross paths once again, and the bad blood that the two have been carrying for decades will once and for all be settled between them in the ring.

According to TMZ Stallone tells their sports reporters that the fight between Balboa and Drago will be insane "You know I gotta hit Drago once" stated Stallone. Film fans first fell in love with "Rocky" in 1976. Movie goers just couldn't help falling for Sylvester Stallone's character Rocky Balboa simple innocence and charm.

If you have been living under a rock for the past three decades and are not familiar with the "Rocky" films, it is a rags to riches story of a working class Italian-American boxer who gets s shot at making his dreams come true of becoming the world heavyweight champion.

Sylvester Stallone wrote the screenplay and shot the film on a meager $1 million budget in less than a month.

The movie was not expected to do well, but after the film was released to theaters it swept the country earning more than $225 million. It went on to become the highest-grossing film of 1976, winning three Oscars, including Best Picture.

The popularity of the sports film and fans love the main character Rocky Balboa encouraged six sequels: Rocky II (1979), Rocky III (1982), Rocky IV (1985), Rocky V (1990), Rocky Balboa (2006) and Creed (2015).

Stallone has starred in each "Rocky" film and wrote the first five, and directed four.

"Creed" is the first "Rocky" spin off the film and starred Michael B. Jordan as Apollo Creed's son, Adonis Creed. Adonis strives to become like his father, a great boxer and sets off to meet "Rocky Balboa in hopes he will train him to fight like his father. After, a lot of persuading he finally convinces Rocky to train him.

Needless to say, "Creed" fans were heartbroken to find out that our beloved "Italian Stallion" had developed cancer. Without giving away all the movie details, it is, in the end, it is Apollo's son who teaches Rocky that he has a lot in life to continue fighting for. Thankfully, because if Adonis hadn't fund Rocky and gave him a purpose in life, we would not be getting the chance to finally see Rocky take on Drago once again!
