Game of ThronesSeason 7 is over with “The Dragon & the Wolf” bringing all the major characters at the King’s Landing to reunite against the Army of the Dead and revealing the true parentage of Jon Snow. These two events have set the stage for the eventful final Season 8 that is not just going to be epic in scale but also in terms of drama. However, it might return in 2019, but fans can rest assured that when it returns, it will conclude the fates of many characters.

Season 8 shooting to begin after fall

What has been fueling rumors of “Game of Thrones” season 8 returning in the summer of 2019, is its shooting schedule in 2018.

The shooting for the final season will take place in the winter months as the next season is based on winters, just the way season 7 did. If fans remember, the shooting for the current season was delayed to capture the snowy winters and it resulted in the summer premiere of the seventh season.

This was the first time that the series witnessed a delay and premiered in summer instead of spring but it is very likely to happen in the next season as well. Even HBO’s programming head Casey Bloys has said that the last season could air in later part of 2018 or 2019 depending on the shooting schedule showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss decide. However, fans should take heart in other rumors that suggest longer and grand episodes for Season 8.

Season 8 to see the Great War, Cleganebowl, extinction of Dorne and more

The final season would be epic as it would lead to winter’s arrival and the deadly White Walkers, who have grown even more powerful with the reanimated Viserion on their side. The season 7 finale saw the destruction of the Wall and now the Army of the Dead can easily march into the seven kingdoms.

So, fans should be ready for some adrenaline-rushing battles in the next season and it includes the faceoff between the Hound and the Mountain.

The two just had a brief exchange of words in the finale. Season 8 would seal the fate of Sansa and Arya Stark and it remains to be seen if they will survive. Also, the upcoming season would see House Dorne collapsing completely as only Ellaria is left in the family and the last viewers saw of her was in chains watching her last daughter die of poisoning.

Apart from these events, the final season is also likely to mark the end of Jaime and Cersei’s relationship with the prophecy about her little brother strangling her to death coming true. He has already left King’s Landing with no love left for his sister in his heart.
