Deadpool 2,” the much-anticipated sequel to the blockbuster R-rated superhero movie “Deadpool,” has been given a release date amidst its controversial split with its director Tim Miller. While the plot of the upcoming sequel is largely unknown at the moment, fans can rest assured that “Deadpool 2” will stay true, and maybe exceed its predecessor.

What’s ‘Deadpool 2’ about?

According to Digital Spy, Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as the wise cracking mercenary Wade Wilson, also known as Deadpool. Cable, a mutant from the original X-Men comic book series, is set to make his debut on the big screen.

The mutant duo will reportedly have a relationship similar to Jacky Chan and Chris Tucker seen in the "Rush Hour" movie franchise.

Cable, reportedly portrayed by Josh Brolin (‘Men in Black III’ and ‘Labor Day’), is a mutant from the future and is the son of Cyclops. Based on that, “Deadpool 2” will probably include in its plot some kind of time travel paradox that will involve both Deadpool and Cable.

Zazie Beetz has signed on to play Domino while Stefan Kapicic is reportedly coming back to reprise his role as Colossus. Brianna Hilderbrand has already confirmed that she will be back to reprise her role as Negasonic Teenage Warhead.

T.J. Miller, Leslie Uggams, Morena Baccarin, and Karan Soni will also be back to play the respective roles of Weasel (Wade’s best friend in the movie), Blind Al, Vanessa Carlysle, and the taxi driver Dopinder.

Meanwhile, Jack Kesy (“The Strain”) has reportedly been cast to play the sequel’s antagonist. Kesy is rumored to take on the role of Tom Cassidy, cousin of X-Men’s Banshee. Julian Dennison has also been linked with “Deadpool 2.” Dennison is reportedly going to take up a yet to be revealed character.

David Leitch took over the directorial duties for “Deadpool 2” after Tim Miller left the production.

“Deadpool 2” is written by Drew Goddard, Paul Wernick, and Rhett Reese.

Release date confirmed

“Deadpool 2” started shooting last June 2017 and given the working title “Love Machine.” The final movie title hasn’t been revealed as of this writing. The upcoming sequel to Marvel's 2016 hit is scheduled for release on June 1, 2018.

Ryan Reynold's Deadpool will reportedly appear in the upcoming X-Force movie next. Interestingly, Cable is the leader of the X-Force, a team of mutants (a more aggressive team to say the least) similar to the X-Men formed by Professor X.
