After the recent tragedy that happened on-set, "Deadpool 2" has finally resumed its production in Vancouver, Canada. Following this development, 20th Century Fox decided to surprise the fans by releasing new set photos showcasing Josh Brolin’s Cable.
The set photos released
The set photos showcase Josh Brolin’s Cable covered in grit and dirt. While there’s still no official context regarding the released images, seeing the character in such state implies that we might see the fan-fave character get beaten up in the upcoming film.
One particular thing to note in the images is Cable’s closed left eye.
Does this mean that we get to see him before he got his cybernetic-left eye? Check out the images below.
Who is Cable?
One of the most popular members of the X-Force, Cable is known for being a tough, gun throttling super-soldier from the future. Cable first appeared in 1990 to become a teacher of the second generation of X-Students (or the New Mutants). Unlike his predecessors Charles Xavier and Magneto, he’s more militaristic in his approach when it comes to mentoring his students.
Later on, it was revealed that Cable was Nathan Summers, the son of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor. He was brought into the future to save him from a viral infection that slowly turned him into a cyborg.
While in the future, he discovered his destiny of defeating the immortal mutant Apocalypse. Learning about this is the reason why he went back in time. Then, later on, he managed to avert destruction, prevent his catastrophic future, and defeat Apocalypse.
His relationship with Deadpool was started by Rob Liefield in a mainline comicbook series called “Cable And Deadpool.” The storyline of the series revolves around the buddy-cop partnership of Cable and Deadpool and successfully shows how the former’s straight-man makes the perfect foil for the zany personality of the latter.
