'The Dragon & the Wolf' unleashes multiple interpretations
The finale of “Game of Thrones” Season 7 is titled “The Dragon and the Wolf” and has a running time of 79 minutes and 43 seconds, which makes it the longest episode of the series.
This has been officially confirmed by the network and ever since the title came out, speculation related to the meaning of the title has been floating around.
The trailer has already hinted at the major house representatives gathering inKing’s Landing to discuss the threat of the White Walkers. The episode seems to have more than that as the title suggests different things. It could be a reference to this mega meeting or the budding love story of Jon Snow, a wolf and Daenerys Targaryen, a dragon, but it could be something more which is quite significant and touted to be the ultimate revelation.
Bran to bring forth the secret wedding of Lyanna and Rhaegar
“The Dragon & the Wolf” could very well be about the secret wedding of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen that Gilly also hinted at in the fifth episode while studying with Sam at the Citadel.
It is very likely that Bran would travel back into the past and go into the details of the sequence that led to the “Tower of Joy” event in Season 6 that saw a dying Lyanna handing over her baby to Ned Stark. Since it has been indicated a few times that Lyanna and Rhaegar were in love, it could be that they got married secretly and then Lyanna gave birth to their baby Jon who Ned took under his wings as his bastard son to protect his identity.
Jon Snow to learn about his parents
The title of the Season 7 finale also gives strong indications about Jon Snow learning about his parentage. While Bran seems to be the person who would reveal the truth to him, some feel that it could be Cersei as this revelation would bring an end to Daenerys’ claim to the Iron Throne. What is more, it would pit her and Jon against each other. Well, if one is wondering how would Cersei know about it, the information is already in the books and could travel to her via Qyburn and his little birds.
