The Winds Of Winter” is the most anticipated book to date. “Game of Thrones” fans and readers have been waiting for the sixth book of “A Song of Ice and Fire” for over five years, but George R.R. Martin has no good news about his progress. The celebrity author admitted that he was far from finishing the book.

George R.R. Martin is still working on 'TWOW'

On Saturday, July 22, GRRM turned to his Live Journal blog to give an update about the long overdue book “The Winds of Winter.” Originally, Martin’s piece was about the release of another book “The Book of Swords,” but he was aware that many are waiting to hear updates about “TWOW” so he mentioned the book.

“And, yes, I know you all want to know about THE WINDS OF WINTER too,” GRRM wrote. “I am still working on it, I am still months away.” The popular author added that there were good and bad days as he worked on the novel. "TWOW" may or may not be released before the first volume of his other book series "Fire and Blood." However, he also teased the possibility of releasing two Westeros book in the same year.

Martin admitted that he heard a lot of false reports about "The Winds of Winter." What struck him the most was those speculations claiming that the book was already done and those reporting that he had not finished a single page.

He considered those reports "equally false and equally moronic."

A number of fans believed that Martin’s plate was already full and this causes the continuous delay of “TWOW.” One fan even accused the author of using the upcoming novel to promote the “Wild Cards” series and stressed that he doesn’t care about the other books. However, the “ASOIAF” scribe reasoned out that “Wild Card” was as popular and it wouldn’t have lasted for 30 years with 23 volumes if it was not.

At the time, fans cannot expect “The Winds of Winter” anytime soon. In fact, its TV adaptation “Game of Thrones” might air its final episode with “TWOW” still unpublished.

When can fans expect the novel?

It is unlikely for GRRM to give the book’s release date, but this won’t stop fans from speculating when they can see the novel on the bookshelves. There are rumors that “The Winds of Winter” will be delivered on Oct. 18.

There are also rumors that the anticipated novel might not arrive until 2018.

At the time, it is difficult to say when “TWOW” will finally see the light of day, especially that the author seemed to have so little to no progress at all. Stay tuned for more updates on your favorite books and TV shows.
