Few details have so far been revealed about “The Flash” Season 4 although the premiere title suggests the series follows “The Flash: Rebirth” storyline in the comics. Likewise, fans now have an idea on what the main villain The Thinker is like in the installment, thanks to actor Miltos Yerolemou, who auditioned for the role.

Episode 1 title hints at Barry’s transformation and return to Central City

The Flash Production office revealed the premiere episode title is “The Flash Reborn” on its Twitter page. The post has since been deleted but not before it has already been shared online (see video below).

The title may not have a connection to the “Rebirth” storyline in the DC comics, although “reborn” and “rebirth” share the same meaning. It also fuels long-held speculation that Season 4 will see Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) turn into another version of Black Flash.

What happens to The Flash in the “Rebirth” story?

In the “Rebirth” storyline, the speedster returns to Central City but soon realizes that he is turning into Black Flash after a negative energy struck him. He learns that the Reverse Flash is to blame for his transformation since the latter created the energy. Barry then decides to return to the Speed Force to spare his friends. It is unclear though if “The Flash Reborn” will follow the “Rebirth” storyline given that Reverse Flash/Eobard Thawne is dead.

Black Flash (who was once Zoom) killed him in “Legends of Tomorrow” Season 2.

What happens when the show returns this fall?

Barry is still in the Speed Force when “The Flash” Season 4 opens with a time jump six months into the future. Central City is still without its scarlet speedster and Wally West aka Kid Flash assumes the role of the city’s hero.

Iris (Candice Patton) also somehow takes on the role of the team’s leader in Barry’s absence.

However, it is unlikely that the show lingers on Barry’s absence for long. Episode 1 “The Flash Reborn” may see Barry back in Central City soon. Speculations point to Wally and Cisco doing some kind of intervention to bring him back to Earth 1.

Barry to wrestle with a new Big Bad in "The Flash" Season 4

Barry faces a new villain (this time not a speedster) when he returns to Central City. This Big Bad goes by the name of Clifford Devoe aka The Thinker, known in The Flash comics to have the “Fastest Brain Alive.” Casting for the role is still ongoing and “Game of Thrones” actor Miltos Yerolemou revealed that he auditioned for the part. He also teased that the show’s version of the villain is close to its comic book counterpart. “Apparently this new ‘Big Bad’ is a fast talker. Really smart,” Yerolemou said as quoted by Screenrant.
