Stranger ThingsSeason 2 will premiere in three months and the new trailer teases several hits of the 1980’s like “Dragon’s Lair,” “Ghostbusters” and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Here are some highlights of the next thrilling installment that has emerged from being the Upside Down proverb to a pop culture phenomenon.

What does the trailer reveal?

Netflix has dropped the official trailer for “Stranger Things” Season 2 at the San Diego Comic-Con last Saturday.

The new season promises more suspense and scary scenes. As usual, it will not be for the faint at heart.

  • UPSIDE DOWN IMAGES. Will, played by Noah Schnapp, is having a weird vision of upside down images. The new season is yet to confirm if the vision is real or not.
  • Michael Jackson “Thriller.” The series made use of Michael Jackson’s popular hit single “Thriller” as one of the soundtracks in the clip. This seems to hint on a ghost-themed plot.
  • 80’s Nostalgia. The preview features the 1983 released “Dragon’s Lair” video game. This game with the scene of skeleton seems to hint of a potential death that will probably be seen in the second season.
  • Mysterious Character. The trailer also showed the young boy was very scared when he said he can feel the presence of the mythical character everywhere. There is also a scene where Will is being chased by some creepy, unknown, dark elements.

Furthermore, the trailer showed a nostalgic spot on the scene of a big house, which appears to be a facility being used as a lab.

In front of the house, there is a sign board that reads “Reagan, Bush ‘84” that hints the scene was set during the 1984 election.

There is a scene where the young boys were wearing costumes of the hit sci-fi movie “Ghostbusters.” The clip also revealed that the boys are out hunting for a mysterious creature, just like the said movie theme.

What else to expect from the plot?

In the Fan2Sea Comic Con cruise panel, David Harbour (playing the role of Jim Hopper) confirmed that the new season has a one-year story gap. According to the report from Hollywood Life, the actor told the fans that a lot of things have happened in the past year and people will see those significant events in the next installment.

The actor also mentioned about the “Justice for Barb” plot. He confirmed there will be scenes about this plot but he also revealed that Barb will not come back this season. He also detailed that fans can witness at the start of the new season how Nancy will deal with her feelings and questions about Barb’s loss.

“Stranger Things” Season 2 is set to premiere on Oct. 27 on Netflix.
