This year’s Emmy awards featured heartfelt acceptance speeches from several of its awardees and a sweet reunion of actors. It also put a spotlight on the celebrated couple, Ben Affleck and Lindsay Shookus. Check out the details of what you have missed in last night’s momentous event.

Ben Affleck escorted Lindsay Shookus

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” star Ben Affleck was spotted at the Emmy’s last night. He sat next to his current sweetheart, Lindsay Shookus, a producer on “Saturday Night Live." However, the couple did not walk the red carpet.

Shookus’ show won this year’s Emmy’s award for “Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.” People reported that "Saturday Night Live" actually earned 22 nominations.

The couple began displaying their relationship in July of this year. Affleck, a three-time Golden Globe awardee, is not yet technically divorced. He and his estranged wife, Jennifer Garner, filed their divorce in April, two years after they announced their separation.

Reunion of '9 to 5' stars

Last night’s prestigious event hosted the sweet reunion of the stars of “9 to 5.” Jane Fonda, Dolly Parton, and Lily Tomlin were tasked to be the presenters for the “Best Supporting Actor” award in a limited series or movie. “Big Little Lies” actor Alexander Skarsgard won the said title.

The reunion brought much delight to the audience as the two stars broke out a joke using a line from their previous movie. Fonda said that they did not allow a sexist, hypocritical bigot to control them in 1980, which Tomlin supported with a statement saying they still do not allow it in 2017.

Nicole Kidman’s speech and kiss for Alexander Skarsgard

Nicole Kidman won the “Best Actress” award for her show “Big Little Lies.” The Moulin Rouge” star gave a very touching speech on domestic abuse when she received her trophy.

The actress described domestic abuse as an “insidious disease,” full of hiding and shame. Kidman mentioned that her award dons a light even more on the pressing issue of domestic abuse.

Another fascinating moment was when Alexander Skarsgard was announced as the winner of the “Best Supporting Actor” award, the fans saw Kidman gave him a kiss on the lips. It was an unexpected moment as the actress did it in front of her husband, Keith Urban.

Alec Baldwin’s speech

Among the 22 nominations for “Saturday Night Live,” four brought home the trophy. Alec Baldwin won the “Best Supporting Actor” award for his portrayal of President Trump. In his acceptance speech, the reputable actor pointed out the value of arts.

Baldwin shared what he has learned about the significance of arts. According to the actor, someone has told him that when a person dies, people will not really remember a decision that the Supreme Court has made or a bill that the Congress has passed.

He emphasized that people will most likely remember a song, a poem, a famous movie line, or a book.

Baldwin then talked to the movie makers and TV production people. He encouraged them to continue doing what they are doing, USA Today reported.
