After that shocking revelation in the season one finale of “Riverdale,” the teen drama will be back for more in its second season. And fair warning: it’s going to get even darker than the usual.
While the mystery of Jason Blossom’s murder was finally solved and closed, another mystery has been left open concerning the attempt on Fred Andrew’s life.
Actor KJ Apa, who plays the role of Archie Andrews in the show, spilled a few details about what to expect in “Riverdale” season 2 the Mirror reported.
Due to the death of Fred (Luke Perry), Apa mentioned that his character will be heading towards a darker path.
He added that season 2 will feature a different and much darker side to Archie.
“It’s his Peter Parker, Bruce Wayne moment and he will look for revenge,” Apa said in an interview.
Will Hiram’s return affect Archie and Veronica’s relationship?
Moreover, will this event affect Archie and Veronica’s relationship? Both of their families are thrown into a lot of drama in “Riverdale” season 2, as Veronica’s father Hiram Lodge returns to town.
In the Season 1 finale, Veronica made it clear that she doesn’t want to have anything to do with whatever her parents are up to. Hiram’s return doesn’t seem to improve Archie’s odds either. Hiram is known to hate Archie in the comic books. With him coming home, Veronica might be stuck in a conflict of interest during season 2.
Will she choose her dad or her boyfriend?
Actor Mark Consuelos will play Hiram in “Riverdale” season 2.
Will Jughead and Betty’s relationship survive?
Speaking of relationships, Jughead and Betty’s story might not be spared from any trouble. In the “Riverdale” season 1 finale, Jughead was seen wearing the Southside Serpents jacket, and it sure made Betty worry.
According to ET Online, the couple’s central conflict might be directed at a so-called civil war between the north side and the south side of Riverdale.
Despite our two couples facing a bleak future, a few new romances will blossom in season 2. According to an interview with E News, Ashleigh Murray, who plays Josie, and Madelaine Petsch, who portrays Cheryl Blossom, mentioned that their characters will have new love interests.
While Petsch remained tight-lipped about her character’s arc, Murray, on the other hand, was happy enough to share that there might be a possibility that her character will be paired off with Reggie.
Ross Butler will no longer be portraying the role of Reggie Mantle in "Riverdale" season 2 due to other commitments. Butler is currently filming “13 Reasons Why” season 2, where he appears as Zach Dempsey.
Reggie’s character has been re-cast, and Charles Melton is taking over the role. Melton’s acting credits include “Glee” and “American Horror Story.”
“Riverdale” season 2 is said to have 22 episodes total. Specific details on the release date haven't been announced, but the series is likely to air this fall on the CW network.
