We finally have an idea on what will happen in “Rick and Morty” season 3 Episode 2, thanks to the team at Adult Swim who released the episode during the San Diego Comic-Con. “Rickmancing the Stone” is a play at “Mad Max: Dury Road," which sees Summer wed a cannibal leader and Morty gaining extra strength that turns him into a killing machine.
San Diego Comic-Con treat
Those who were at the recent San Diego Comic Convention were fortunate to see Episode 2 of the animated series. Co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland gifted fans with an exclusive look at “Rickmancing the Stone” and Nerdist writer Kyle Hill was generous enough to share what he saw at the event.
Plot for 'Rick and Morty' Season 3 Episode 2
The episode picks up after the events in Episode 1, specifically after Beth and Jerry’s divorce. Summer and Morty do not know how to deal with the separation. Summer decides to go on a spur-of-the-moment adventure with her grandfather a distraction. Their adventure leads them to a post-apocalyptic world, where cannibals and scavengers exist.
'Mad Max: Fury Road' spoof
“Rickmancing the Stone” pays tribute to George Miller’s “Mad Max: Fury Road.” The characters, backdrop and theme of the episode are reminiscent of the Hollywood film that stars Tom Hardy. There are spiked cars, tattooed and pierced people. The trailer for Episode 2 gave a glimpse at some of these characters and at what happens when the trio ends up in their world.
Car chase
Of course, it would not be “Mad Max” without the trademark car chase. The trailer reveals Rick at the wheel while Morty is in the backseat taking a shot at their pursuers. Summer appears lax as she sits beside her grandfather. At some point, she kills one of their pursuers with a shotgun, which led to an invitation from the scavengers to join their group.
Summer in love
Summer, still acting out, falls for the cannibal leader and marries him. However, she and her husband had a falling out and she eventually decides to return home to Beth. Back on her Earth, Summer visits Jerry at his motel and gives him the skull of the first mutant she ever killed.
Morty’s giant arm
The trailer for Season 3 gave a glimpse at the teenager with a giant arm.
Apparently, this is Rick’s doing. He injected his grandson with the genetics of a Thunderdome champion, which turned him into a killing machine.
The rock in 'Rick and Morty' Season 3 episode 2
“Rickmancing the Stone” refers to the glowing rock that the scientist retrieved from the post-apocalyptic world. Rick modernized the society using the energy harnessed by the stone.
