"Outlander" is a historical time traveler series. It was developed for TV by Ronald D. Moore and is based on the books by Diana Gabaldon. The series follows the character of Claire Randell who is a married nurse during 1945. Randell finds herself suddenly transported back to Scotland in 1743 where she encounters Highland warrior Jamie Fraser. Claire finds herself becomes entangled in the Jacobite risings at the time. The series aired its first season in 2014 and this was immediately followed by the second season. "Outlander" was renewed for a third and fourth season.

The cast and creators of the show recently sat down at the San Diego Comic Con to talk about the third season of the show and the reunion of characters Claire and Jamie.

The premiere is season 3 will show the couple coping without one another

According to Den of Geek, the premiere of season three will deal with both Claire and Jamie trying to discover who they are in the absence of each other. Claire has traveled through time once again and has landed back in her original timeline. This, of course, means that she is back to being the wife of Frank. Claire appears to have a new life and is currently trying to be happy with Frank.

The relationship between the pair is strained and in one scene when Frank tries to touch Claire's pregnant belly she shies away from her husband.

Meanwhile, Jamie's will to live has been thoroughly shaken by losing Claire. The impact of this will be explored in more detail in the third season of the show.

The cast talk season 3

Catriona Balfe and Sam Heughan are the actors who played the famous "Outlander" couple, Claire and Jamie. According to the Independent, the pair recently talked about what their characters are to face in season 3 of the show.

Balfe revealed that the pair are both struggling with grief and for her character Claire especially this will have a huge impact on her character. Balfe divulged that Claire will put this heartbreak she feels to one side and in the absence of Jamie she carries on.

Heughan agreed with Balfe's statements saying that since the characters have been separated this has had a huge weight on both of their shoulders.

The actors stated that their characters will, in fact, be reunited in the third season of the show. The reunion, they told fans, will be a very unexpected one and the audience will get to see how they both deal with it. Both Claire and Jamie have moved on from one another and have begun building their own independent lives. However, fans are wondering if this will change once the pair encounters each other in the third season of the show.

"Outlander" is set to return to the smalls screen on September 10. Fans will have to wait until then to see how the couple will deal with first being separated and then unexpectedly reunited.
