The “Married At First Sight: Second Chances” season finale was on Thursday, July 6, 2017. Fans of the show looked forward to seeing who David Norton and Vanessa Nelson would choose as the love of their lives.
Both David and Vanessa were on Season 3 of "Married at First Sight." Their marriages ended in divorce from their partners. So, they got a second chance to find love in the spinoff series.
They went on many dates over four months and narrowed it down to their last two possibilities. After spending a week with them, David and Vanessa made their final decision during the finale.
David Norton
David had a box with an engagement ring inside, and viewers were sure he would choose either Isabella or Tara. After all, he had spent an entire week with both of them. He told Isabella she made him a better person and she made him feel like he had never felt before. He told Tara he loved her. That gave Tara a hint that she might be the one he would choose.
First, David met with Isabella and let her down.
This made viewers think he was going to choose Tara. However, after David gave his speech to Tara, he also let her down. Both women were surprised and so were the viewers because David did not choose either of them. Tara called David a fake for having led her on to think she had a chance with him.
David wrote a long explanation about his decision on his blog. He concluded that the love just wasn't there and he would have been a hypocrite to have proposed to either one of the women when he didn't feel the spark he was looking for.
Vanessa Nelson
Vanessa's final two picks were Shannon and Andre after she spent an entire week with each one. She appeared to have favored both of them but in different ways.
However, she could choose only one. Viewers were hoping Vanessa's story would be different from David's. They wanted to see at least one engagement during the finale.
First, Vanessa broke the news to Shannon that he was not her choice. Before she finished talking, he interrupted with his own thoughts about the relationship. Then it was Andre's turn to learn his fate. Fans were holding their breath because they did not want to see a repeat of what David had done.
While Vanessa was giving her speech (and before she gave Andre her decision), he got down on one knee and proposed to her. Vanessa stood and said "Yes." So, now she is an engaged woman.
Congratulations are in order for Vanessa and Andre on their engagement. Even though she has been married, she has never been engaged. She skipped that phase because she got married at first sight.
