Mahershala Ali has finally been confirmed as the new lead star for the upcoming season of "True Detective." The actor has just signed up for the most anticipated season 3 of this HBO anthology crime series, and the news has been confirmed on Wednesday by Casey Bloys.

Meanwhile, the HBO President also revealed that the upcoming season will be an epic one. He shared that he already got the chance to read the script and he felt confident that Ali will be the ideal actor for the lead role.

Meanwhile, Bloys continued that the network is currently looking for a director whom they like to work with. He further added that the network is very much close to the series and they only wanted to deliver the best show to their audience.

Well-written scripts

During the Television Critics Association press tour, Bloys has addressed about the different criticisms that "True Detective" has received from the previous season. He shared that the production has made their best in order to deliver the best scripts for the show. As much as possible, they made sure that all scripts were well-written. Hence, it will take them a little time before they'll have to release for another season.

Meanwhile, amid the official announcement from HBO, Ali was also quick to share the news on his Instagram page. He shared a photo of him and on the caption, he wrote, "Season 3." Ali being chosen as the lead role for the series is something that the viewers should watch out for.

He has been known for his acting chops. Further, being the Best Supporting Actor for "Moonlight" in Academy Awards certainly made him no less than the best person for this role.

Detective is not dead

As to when the upcoming series will air, the HBO President hasn't given any details yet.

Nevertheless, he also emphasized that "True Detective" isn't dead at all and his story will continue to leaves on. Bloys further revealed that he already has spoken to the series creator, Nic Pizzolato, and he added that season 3 isn't impossible to happen.

Further, HBO has continued to hope for the upcoming season to get started really soon.

Nevertheless, it is safe to say that season 3 is happening very soon since Ali already had closed a deal with the network recently.

For the meantime, it will take fans a little more time to wait for further details about "True Detective." Meanwhile, Steven Zaillian is also slated to pitch an idea for this HBO upcoming series.
