There have been speculations that “Rick and Mortyseason 3 Episode 2, “Rickmancing the Stone,” may see Summer in danger. A recent post from one of the animators on the series seems to fuel this theory.

“Rickmancing the Stone” storyline

Adult Swim has yet to release the synopsis for Episode 2, although fans believe that the plot revolves around a rescue mission. The common theory is that Summer gets kidnapped or gets into some kind of serious trouble.

This prompts Morty and his grandfather Rick to go on a jungle adventure to save her.

This storyline is supposedly a nod to the 1980s movie “Romancing the Stone,” which could have inspired the episode. In the film, a novelist hires a mercenary (Michael Douglas) to help her save her sister. The pair embarks on a jungle adventure using a treasure map. Inverse suggests that in “Rick and Morty” Season 3 Episode 2, it is Summer whom the titular characters rescue.

Animator tweets #KeepSummerSafe

Interestingly, one of the show’s animators recently used the hashtag #KeepSummerSafe in one of his tweets for Season 3.

Lead animator Eric Bofa Nfon took to his Twitter to deny rumors that the show has been canceled. He confirmed that the animators are still hard at work on the installment. His post came after Dan Harmon released the premiere episode of Season 3 on April 1.

The tag #KeepSummerSafe could mean anything. It could refer to the show’s return this summer, which was recently confirmed to air on July 30. It could also pertain to Summer being in danger in Episode 2 “Rickmancing the Stone.” It is important to point out that fans have been using the hashtag to promote the release of “Rick and Morty” Season 3. A quick browse at Twitter for the tag revealed several posts dating back to 2016.

Regardless, fans will have to wait to find out the storyline when Adult Swim releases the synopsis for “Rickmancing the Stone.”

Other Season 3 spoilers

The fact that creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland love to reference movie titles in their show adds fuel to speculations of Summer being in danger in Episode 2, “Rickmancing the Stone.” They get inspiration from these movies, one such example would be Episode 1 titled “Rickshank Rickdemption.” The premiere was a play at the film “Shawshank Redemption.” The episode saw Rick bust his way out of the Galactic Federation prison.

Meanwhile, the network has released the trailer for "Rick and Morty" Season 3 which gave a glimpse at the numerous adventures in store for the titular characters.

In one episode, Rick turns himself into a pickle and ends up fighting with rats with the use of robotic limbs he attached to his vegetable body. There are also speculations that Evil Morty returns in the installment.
