Throughout the years "Game of Thrones" has produced a vast number of theories. However, one of the greatest mysteries of this fantasy universe dates back to 1996, and the first novel of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series -- the mystery of Jon Snow's parentage. In the Season 6 finale, the show revealed his mother to be Lyanna Stark, and soon after that, HBO released an infographic that confirmed Rhaegar Targaryen as Jon's father. However, the question remains: How will Jon find out about his true parentage?
The truth about Jon's parents will come to the surface sooner than we think
Since Bran was the one who saw Jon's birth in the flashback, many fans believe that he will be the one who will reveal Jon's parentage as well. And there are others who believe that Samwell Tarly will somehow discover this secret at the Citadel. In the last episode, it appeared that Littlefinger would tell Jon the truth at the Crypts of Winterfell. But there is still hope that Jon will learn about it soon. Maybe even in the next episode.
What will happen in 'Game of Thrones' Season 7 episode 3?
In "Game of Thrones" Season 7 Episode 3 Bran Stark will arrive at Winterfell, but Jon Snow will already be gone. While Bran could reach out to Jon telepathically, I don't think that's how the events will play out.
In my opinion, Jon might find the truth at Dragonstone.
As we are all well aware of, the meeting between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen is finally happening in the next episode. Apart from this meeting between the show's main protagonists, there will be some interesting encounters going on at the same time. Tyrion will be there and so will Varys.
As the Mad King's Master of Whisperers, Varys must have investigated the mysterious series of events that surrounded Jon's birth. It must have been strikingly odd that honorable Ned Stark returned home with a baby in his arms after he went to rescue his sister Lyanna. Varys has a network of "little birds" that stretches across multiple continents and it is hard to believe any information could pass him by.
Not to mention the fact that he served three kings before Daenerys and during that time he obtained knowledge on just about everyone in the Seven Kingdoms. Given his close ties with the Targaryens at the time of Jon's birth, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility that he may even be in possession of a certain document that proves Jon's parentage.
While I definitely think Varys knows something, I am not certain that he will tell him in the next episode. But, there is a strong possibility that he could. We are just going to have to wait and see.
