As Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) has replaced Francis Underwood (Kevin Spacey) as the new U.S. President in the previous season finale, she may now start to build a cabinet of her own. The 47th and current President of the United States might have another loyalist as part of her new administration if ever the fifth season will push through. And this might be Jane Davis, played by Patricia Clarkson.
Jane’s possible change of mind
In an interview with Vulture, Patricia Clarkson revealed that her character as Jane Davis might have a change of mind and agree to be part of Claire Underwood’s new cabinet members in “House of Cards” Season 6.
To recall, the Commerce Department official has refused to be part of the First Lady’s entourage as she wanted her skills to be more useful. She also said that she was trying to avoid all the stress and drama of being close to Robin Wright’s character.
However, as Claire Underwood is now the new president of the United States, Patricia Clarkson explained that Jane Davis believes the new head of state could be a great leader with her invaluable abilities. With that, she might finally accept her offer.
A stand for herself
The 57-year-old actress told Vulture that she thinks her character as Jane Davis sees most people in the show as "simple-minded." However, she thinks that her character will find a “true companion, patriot," and equally intellected with the new head of the country.
On the other hand, she might still refuse the offer in “House of Cards” Season 6.
Jane Davis has lived a life to continue fighting and do the unexpected. Hence, she is not sure if she could maintain to live a “structured life,” working behind the desk for the rest of the day. Patricia Clarkson also described her character for being incredibly disciplined and has a powerful life.
Frank’s revenge
Moreover, the show’s executive producer Melissa James told TVLine that they have high hopes for Robin Wright’s character as Claire Underwood in “House of Cards” Season 6.
She said that the new president might be just like her husband, Frank Underwood. However, she still needs to keep herself guarded as the former president already threatened her life.
Now that she is the one who is in power, things might now change as he may be the one who is intimidated by her. Knowing that his wife has a lot of followers compared to him, he perfectly knows that he can still bring her administration down by planning a coup.
