Actor Stefan Kapicic told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview that Colossus is set to have a bigger part to play in the upcoming "Deadpool 2" movie.
A colossal growth
Kapicic’s take on Colossus back in the first Deadpool film became an instant hit, particularly his pairing with another X-men colleague Negasonic Teenage Warhead (played by Brianna Hilderbrand).
During Kapicic’s interview, he said that Colossus didn’t have time to develop in the previous "X-men" movies despite the fact that he’s one of the more iconic characters in the comic books.
He also explained that Colossus needed that space and Tim Miller, Ryan Reynolds, and Fox decided to give him a spot that the character can use to continue his growth.
The actor said that the sequel would answer many questions the fans are asking right now regarding the first film. He also added that some questions he read on the internet are already answered in the upcoming sequel. Kapicic stated that he’s a comic book fan. And with the incredible state of the upcoming "Deadpool" sequel, he’s very excited and would love to share some information regarding the upcoming movie if he could.
David Leitch as the new director
The film has only been in production for less than a month, and Kapicic expects to be a lot busier until April 2018 during the post-production.
It’s no secret that after Tim Miller’s unexpected departure from the project due to some creative differences between him and Ryan Reynolds, the fans of the first film became worried about the state of the upcoming sequel. However, basing on Kapicic’s reaction about Miller’s replacement, it seems like the new director David Leitch is doing an amazing job picking-up after the previous director’s work.
Stefan Kapicic stated that Leitch’s way of handling the project, particularly his character Colossus is unbelievable. He added that the director is pretty relaxed, intelligent and absolutely visionary which can reflect in his other movies such as the upcoming film Atomic Blonde.
"Deadpool 2" will star Ryan Reynolds as the titular character. Other returning cast includes Morena Baccarin, TJ Miller, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand, Zazie Beets, and Stefan Kapicic. Josh Brolin also enters the fray in this sequel as the iconic member of the X-force as Cable. David Leitch currently helms the movie’s production based on the script written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
"Deadpool 2" is set to hit the theaters on June 1, 2018.
