Marvel has now released the much-awaited “Spider-Man: Homecoming” featuring Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. As the superhero movie also stars Tony Stark, some say that it is like “Iron Man 4” that fans have been long waiting for.

The film has been receiving positive ratings and reviews. Even though Holland’s portrayal of Peter Parker is being praised, movie goers and critics alike can’t deny that he shares the spotlight with the iconic Downey Jr.

A parental figure

According to What Culture, “Spider-Man: Homecoming” is much like “Iron Man 4” than a reboot of the friendly neighborhood’s story.

Even though it is a new beginning for the young Peter Parker, it also starts a new chapter in Tony Stark’s life. The self-described genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist now play the role of a mentor, a father figure, and a catalyst for the film’s narrative.

In fact, aside from being a superhero film, it is also a tale of a master and his protégé with a touch of a father and son piece. Thus, Robert Downey Jr. didn’t just share a small acting role in the movie, but also as a key player.

The help RDJ gives to the movie

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” also feels like a continuation of the “Iron Man” trilogy. By featuring the new generation of the “Stark Industries- powered hero” is like introducing “Iron Man 4.”

The film, too, seems like Robert Downey Jr.’s way to maintain his legacy when the time comes that he wants to quit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Also, without the help of the Billionaire in a Flying Metal Suit, there would be no Web Slinger hero.

If the 52-year-old legendary actor didn’t join Tom Holland in the film, it would only look like a typical high school movie with a supernatural being with superpowers. It might not have a big impact in the MCU, and there will be no big villain like Vulture, played by Michael Keaton.

The two heroes’ similarities

Another sign that “Spider-Man: Homecoming” can be considered as “Iron Man 4” is the appearance of Vulture.

Adrian Toomes is originally Tony Stark’s opponent. Robert Downey Jr.’s character has to deal with the former owner of Toomes Salvage Company until Spider-Man noticed his wrongdoings.

Clearly, there are a lot of similarities Peter Parker and Tony Stark have.

Aside from losing their parents early, they both have the eye to science and technology. In fact, he is like the little Iron Man. Thus, the new “Spider-Man” film is like a sub-series of the armored superhero movie.
