HBO just revealed that the ninth season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” will return on October 1, 2017. The show’s return was announced last year after being off-the-air since 2011. Fans of the show should be delighted to see the return of Larry David and the rest of the cast.
The latest season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” will bring back familiar faces such as Jeff Garlin, J.B. Smoove, Cheryl Hines and Susie Essman. Real-life couple Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen are also expected to return and Lauren Graham from the TV show “Gilmore Girls” will be the newest member to join the cast.
The show’s premise
If you’ve been living under a rock, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” debuted on HBO in October 2000 and features Larry David as a fictionalized version of himself. In the show, he’s also well known for being the co-creator of the critically acclaimed sitcom “Seinfeld.”
The show has been popular for featuring cameos by high profile actors and public figures such as Martin Scorcese, Michael J. Fox, Shaquille O’Neal and Ted Harbert, just to name a few.
Also, it’s worth mentioning that “Curb Your Enthusiasm” was able to bring the main cast of “Seinfeld” together for a reunion show of sorts during its seventh season.
That particular season, David made sure Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Michael Richards and Jason Alexander all agree for a reunion show as a way of reconciling with his wife Cheryl, played by Cheryl Hines.
Awards and nominations
The show was widely acclaimed by critics, so much so that it garnered a total of 39 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, winning the categories for “Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series” and “Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series.”
David was nominated five times for “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series” while Hines was nominated twice for “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series”
“Curb” won a Golden Globe Award for “Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy” in 2003 and the Producers Guild of America Award in 2003 and 2005.
With 80 episodes already under its belt, “Curb” is HBO’s longest-running scripted series and it will join other popular TV shows that have been revived such as “Twin Peaks,” “Fuller House” and “Roseanne.”
