The finale for "Supergirl" Season 2 is set to be released by the end of the month and already fans are looking forward to it. There is going to be a big reveal during this season's last episode because the villain for season 3 will make a cameo. The series showrunner also teased that the finale will show favorite returnees.
Finale title is a nod to US Senator Warren
The Season 2 finale is titled "Nevertheless, She Persisted," a catchphrase which became popular after Senator Elizabeth Warren refused to remain silent during a Senate confirmation hearing.
Many think that this is only fitting, considering that Supergirl is led by a female. The plot of the Season 2 finale teases that Alex will be kidnapped by someone who threatens to kill her unless Supergirl releases as notorious criminal from prison. Supergirl and Maggie must put aside their differences in order to save Alex. On the other hand, Rhea proposes something to Lena.
Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg shared that the finale will show the identity of the villain for Season 3. During an interview, Kreisberg said that viewers will "get a glimpse of the Season 3 villain in the finale, which we’re also excited about.” Who could the next villain be? Kreisberg obviously did not give any more details, but fans know that whoever the next antagonist will be, it's not going to be General Zod because he has already made an appearance in "Supergirl" Season 2. Viewers may have to have their eyes glued on their TV sets, because Kreisberg said that we are only going to get a "glimpse" of the next villain.
Who will end up with Alex?
Now, going back to the plot of Season 2 finale, Kreisberg said they have always wanted to do an episode dedicated to Kara and Maggie and their love for Alex. Kreisberg said that they think it's an "interesting dynamic," and kidnapping Alex would be a "great way to deepen the bond between Maggie and Kara." But who will Alex end up with?
Hopefully, the finale will show that, too.
The finale will also bring back people featured on the show for the season. Calista Flockhart will bec coming back, Kreisberg confirmed, and Lynda Carter will return as the President. Sharon Leal and Tyler will also return as M'gann and Superman respectively. The finale, needless to say, is going to be huge. "There is a feature film quality finale, with huge guest stars, stunts and visual effects." "Supergirl" Season 2 finale will air on May 22.
