While networks have made some shocking decisions to end the 2016-2017 schedule, they have made some excellent ones when it comes to new shows. There are many that look enticing, exciting, and modern. Networks are finally bringing situations to life that have always been taboo subjects. With that in mind, here's a look at the four most anticipated shows of the 2017-2018 TV season.

'The Good Doctor'

You may not have actually heard of this new ABC show yet. Its flown under the radar, overshadowed by news of numerous other new shows coming to the network.

However, it is certainly one that you want to keep an eye out for. The pilot was ordered on May 11, 2017 and instantly given a position in the primetime fall 2017 schedule.

"The Good Doctor" is about a young resident who has Asperger's and is a genius. The two qualities work together to make him one of the best residents seen in a long time. However, his autism brings in questions from hospital board members over whether he is suitable for their program.

'Black Lightning'

Out of all the new CW shows coming to the network (there are four), "Black Lightning" is the most highly anticipated. The show is yet another DC comics adaptation, but has made news because it isn't set within the Arrowverse.

That means no Stephen Amell or Melissa Benoist showing up in the show.

Unlike many other superhero shows, "Black Lightning" is about a man who has control of his powers. He knows all about them, but has retired from the world of crime fighting. He is pulled back as a vigilante when a student at his high school (he's the principal) looks to be on the wrong path.

'S.W.A.T.'

There is some excellent news for Shemar Moore fans. He is back to primetime, but not on "Criminal Minds." He will appear in the third highly anticipated new show, "S.W.A.T." This is a reboot and will focus on a similar storyline to the original: a commander who is torn between duty and loyalty. The team will protect the L.A.

streets from criminals.

It's not surprising that this is highly anticipated, and not just because Moore will be back on screens. Police, FBI, and other similar crime dramas tend to do well on the networks. Just look at how long "NCIS" and "Criminal Minds" have been on.

'The Gifted'

Another highly anticipated new show of 2017 is "The Gifted." This superhero show comes to FOX and is set in FOX's X-Men Universe. The show focuses on a family with two children who find out they have powers. Their parents take them on the run, as they now live in a world where mutants aren't appreciated for their skills and are instead being hunted. While on the run, they meet other mutants while figuring out their next steps.
