Less than one year after Audrina Patridge gave birth to her first child, Heidi Montag and her husband, Spencer Pratt, have confirmed she is pregnant with a baby of her own. Nearly eight years after tying the knot, Montag joins the likes of Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port, her former "Hills" co-stars, who are both currently expecting their first child with husbands William Tell and Tim Rosenman, respectively.
During an April 12 interview with Us Weekly magazine, Montag and Pratt opened up about their exciting baby news, revealing that Pratt was informed of Montag's pregnancy during a recent morning at their Santa Barbara beach house.
“The look on [Heid's] face, I can’t even describe it," Pratt recalled to the magazine. "She was literally glowing.”
After revealing her pregnancy, Heidi Montag, who is 12 weeks along in her pregnancy and due pm October 19, said she felt “overwhelmed” with emotion. “I started crying, and [Spencer] embraced me,” she said.
Heidi Montag is the third 'Hills' star to announce a pregnancy in recent months
In January, Lauren Conrad, the star of "The Hills" and a former best friend to Montag, announced that she and her husband, William Tell, were expecting their first child together with an emotional post on Instagram, which included a photo of the reality star turned designer holding a photo of her sonogram.
Weeks later, Whitney Port, who went on to star in "The Hills" spinoff series, "The City," took to her Instagram page and shared the first photo of her baby bump, which she showed off while wearing nothing but a T-shirt and a pair of panties.
Why did Heidi Montag wait so long to conceive her first child with Spencer Pratt?
According to Montag, she wanted to have a baby three years ago but because her husband wasn't on board with the idea at the time, they decided to wait.
"I’m actually really thankful we waited," she explained during her interview with Us Weekly.
Although Montag has experienced intense morning sickness in recent months, she noted that she's never been so happy to be so sick. As she explained, she is reminded about her pregnancy each time she feels ill and when she does, she begins to feel euphoric, fulfilled and grateful.
Is Heidi Montag having a boy or a girl?
At this point, Montag and her husband are unaware of the gender of their child. That said, Montag said she is hoping for a boy and added that she's always wanted to start off with a son.
