Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone have done a great job with "The Expendables", and they've made three such movies so far. However, it seems that the fourth movie will be completely different from the others, since these two actors may not be in it. It is questionable how good "The Expendables 4" will be without these great actors, and there is no doubt that the lack of their presence will negatively impact the movie.
Schwarzenegger understands that it will be hard, or even impossible to make a good movie without Stallone, and he refuses to be in it. “There is no Expendables without Sly,” said the actor. “I would never do the movie without him, no.” Sylvester Stallone is essential to this movie franchise and without him, we can expect things to go differently and the new movie could take a 180-degree turn.
Stallone left 'The Expendables' because of disagreements
The reason why Sylvester Stallone decided to withdraw from the movie franchise is because of creative differences with Nu Image. There were many issues as Stallone and Nu Image chief, Avi Lerner, couldn't find common ground on a new director, movie script, and a few other things that are important to "The Expendables 4".
It seems that the movie script is not even done, yet the producers want to go ahead and still shoot the movie. "I have not seen the script; I don’t even know if there is a script, even though they want to shoot in August again, like they usually do,” said Arnold Schwarzenegger.
There are obviously a lot of problems with the movie, and after Schwarzenegger's comments, it is clear that Stallone had a good reason to withdraw from "The Expendables 4".
Schwarzenegger understands Stallone's importance
Sylvester Stallone did not only have a big role in the first three movies, but he also produced the first movie, which set the bar quite high. Furthermore, he was a writer for all three movies, and he is the icon of "The Expendables".
Arnold Schwarzenegger realizes how important it is to have Stallone in the movie, and no one can blame him for refusing to have a role in it.
However, even if Stallone returns to the movie franchise, Schwarzenegger may not do the same thing. He was disappointed with his character in "The Expendables 3" and will not return to the next movie unless his character is properly developed. “You know, I think the first and second one were terrific. But, the third one, I thought my part was not written well," said the 69-year old actor.
