However, when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Stallone is no different than someone like Kurt Russell, who also appears in the new "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie.

James Gunn is always secretive when it comes to his Marvel movies. He even has a major Easter egg from the first one that no one has figured out yet and he still refuses to spill the beans on the secret. He cast Nathan Fillion in the first movie and didn't tell anyone who he was (he was an alien in the prison scene). Gunn has also been secretive about who Sylvester Stallone is playing in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." James Gunn did say that Sly is an "important" character from Marvel Comics when it comes to the cosmic universe. He also said that he is important in the life of Yondu. According to one rumor, Stallone might be playing Starhawk, one of the original Guardians in the comics - as Yondu was as well. In the movie, he is expected to play a Ravager and the former mentor to Yondu until they had a falling out.
