Netflix dropped the 13 episodes of its new series “13 Reasons Why” derived from Jay Ashers book with the same title on March 31. As the television series now ends, fans are now asking if there would be a possible “13 Reasons Why” Season 2 of the standalone novel. Viewers are looking for the tale’s closure as it somehow ends with a series of cliffhangers.

In the season finale, Clay (Dylan Minnette) has finished listening to the Hannah Baker’s (Katherine Langford) tapes that tell the 13 reasons why she committed suicide. Here, there is a 14th tape that tells the confession of Bryce (Justin Prentice) that he indeed raped Hannah.

The original tapes are also acquired by Mr. Porter (Derek Luke) and to Hannah’s parents Mrs. Baker (Kate Walsh) and Mr. Baker (Brian D’Arcy James).

The possible plotlines

The fate of Bryce and other people involved on the tapes remain unknown, thus this is a good possible storyline for “13 Reasons Why” Season 2. Alex (Miles Heizer) is hospitalized because of an assumed self-inflicted gunshot. Tyler (Devin Druid) has an armory of weapons that might be used to take down the students engaged on Hannah’s tapes and as a revenge for their poor treatment of him.

Asher eyeing to do a sequel

However, the show’s book version didn’t continue Hannah’s story and end in just one installment. But, the author himself is eyeing to continue the tale of every character.

"I'm curious as well. What happens to Clay? How do people react to what Alex did at the very end? What's going to happen to Mr. Porter?” Asher asked Entertainment Weekly.

The 41-year-old writer revealed that he, too, is thinking of the show’s sequel. Although he had been through a brainstorming about it, he admitted that he is not going to write it but would like to see it instead.

Then again, he didn’t say yet if there would be another season coming, though there is proof that it is possible.

More stories to tell

Asher admitted that the unanswered questions are intentionally left open, but it is not because they are hoping for a second chapter. In fact, he unveiled that the remaining character stories purposely don’t have an ending.

"Every action we have is going to have repercussions in ways we could not anticipate,” he explained. As a matter of fact, he said that it is the whole message of the novel. But there are still ways that they could make “13 Reasons Why” Season 2 if they are into it.

Moreover, the show’s executive producer Selena Gomez also said that there are more stories the book can tell. She even told the Hollywood Reporter that there’s a reason why it has been called a series and they should just wait and see what will happen.
