With so many movies and television series that tackles real-life situations, "13 Reasons Why" is yet another show that captures the viewers' heart and attention, making it a potential new TV obsession. While other shows just usually point the blame to peers and society, the new show produced by Selena Gomez reveals that there is more than that that causes teenage drama.
"13 Reasons Why" is a new Netflix show based on Jay Asher's best-selling 2007 young adult novel that is about the suicide of a high school student, Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford).
Although the concept seems to be ordinary and has been done before, the show manages to convey the message in a hair-raising, tingle-down-the-spine way that hooks viewers.
New Netflix show tackles teen suicide
The story is as real-life as it gets. Just like majority of the teens nowadays, Hannah struggles to figure out what life is all about. As if being a teen in this generation was not hard enough, there were people who made it even tougher for the student that eventually made her decide to take her own life.
Since the death of Hannah Baker was not the end result of the show, but instead the beginning of the story, it makes it even more interesting to watch. "13 Reasons Why" makes people want to know what happened to the young student and who and what drove her to commit suicide.
Selena Gomez explains why she wanted to be part of show

The package that Clay got had 13 tapes, making "13 Reasons Why" a fairly fitting title.
The Netflix show made everyone realize that teens are struggling with a lot of pressure: school, friends, family.
