The television adaptation is based on the movie franchise with the same title that managed to deliver four successful films from 1996 to 2011. However, as the third chapter will be a reboot, it is not yet known if it will be a continuation of the show’s previous installments or will tell a different story.

The third chapter’s planned details

The show’s producer, Dimension TV, wants to do “Scream” Season 3 reboot that will feature an all-new cast and story for it recently ordered six episodes. In fact, the company is also now looking for a new showrunner that will give fresh ideas for the program.

To recall, the first season’s showrunners Jill Blotevogel and Jaime Paglia were replaced by Michael Gans and Richard Register for the second chapter. Also, if the planned reboot comes to life, it is not yet revealed if it’s going to reference the show’s previous seasons, its narratives and characters’ story.

The previous seasons

The first season of the suspense television series aired on MTV in 2015 featuring a group of teenagers in the town of Lakewood.

The place is said to be haunted by the slasher killer named Brandon James.

The show’s first chapter evidently gave tribute to the original movie, “Scream.” However, the second installment featured a different horror story that shifted to a “true crime docuseries” tackling the mystery surrounding the killers’ identities.

But, fans saw the reunion of the Lakewood teenagers in the two-hour “Scream” Halloween Special in 2016.

The said particular episode answered all the hanging questions from the show’s second season finale that seemed to end the franchise. As a lot think that “Scream” Season 3 is not going to happen, a reboot is now on the way.

The reboot’s characters

Everybody loved Emma Duval’s character as Willa Fitzgerald, but it looks like she won’t be reprising her role in “Screams” Season 3.

According to Deadline, the show’s original stars have been giving a head’s up to go and find another work as the reboot may feature all new characters.

In fact, the 26-year-old actress is now included in the new television series of Fox titled “Behind Enemy Lines.” She, too, has a great potential to be a series regular on the said show.
