With the premiere of "Dancing With The Stars" 2017 set for March 20 on ABC, interesting casting tidbits are beginning to trickle in from both spoiler sources and insiders. Although the celebrity cast is still a giant question mark, a pair of Feb. 21 revelations added a handful of pieces to the "DWTS" season 24 puzzle.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Peta Murgatroyd join 'Dancing with the Stars' season 24 lineup
Although most fans likely thought the birth of their first child --son Shai Aleksander, who entered the world on Jan. 4 and made his public debut during the Feb. 17 edition of "Good Morning America"-- would preclude Mirrorball Trophy winners Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovsky from taking part in the hit reality show's spring season, the handsome pair had other plans in mind. During today's iteration of "GMA," Chmerkovskiy, 37, and Murgatroyd, 30, revealed that they'd be teaming up with celebrity partners this season after all.
They are the first "Dancing with the Stars" professional dancers to confirm their participation in season 24. Others who are thought to be returning --but are not yet confirmed-- include the likes of season 23 runner-up Sharna Burgess, Lindsay Arnold, Witney Carson, and Valentin Chmerkovskiy, who won last fall's show with Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez.
'DWTS' spring 2017 rehearsals looming?
Although the "Dancing with the Stars" 2017 celebrity cast is still tightly under wraps, Chmerkovskiy, Murgatroyd, and the rest of the slate of professional dancers will enjoy a get-together in the very near future, if a tidbit shared by spoiler source DWTSGossip this morning is on the up and up. According to the info shared, "...rumor has it that #DWTS24 rehearsals start next week." Although it's tempting to assume that this means the pros will meet their partners, that's not necessarily so: it's more likely that they will rehearse the opening number for the season premiere.
In fact, some fans have speculated that the pros and celebs may be paired up during the live "DWTS" 2017 cast announcement (though there is no proof that the reveal will follow this format).
