Just two weeks remain before the "Dancing With The Stars" 2017 cast is formally revealed during the March 1 edition of ABC's "Good Morning America," and fans of the long-running hit reality dance competition are eagerly awaiting the big news. Although "DWTS" spoiler sources have remained surprisingly silent to date, there are a few known variables regarding the series' upcoming 24th season.
'Bachelor' franchise faces joining 'Dancing with the Stars' 2017 cast?
Although HollywoodLife claimed earlier this week that newly minted "Bachelorette" Rachel Lindsay was negotiating a deal to compete on "DWTS," a Gossip Cop follow-up called the entire report "completely off-base."
West Coast Correspondent for Dance Network Kristyn Burtt also summarily shot down the rumor, noting via Twitter on Feb.
14 that "TheBachelorette begins filming the week of March 13, so Rachel is not on Season 24. #DWTS"
A more likely addition to the "Dancing with the Stars" season 24 lineup is current "Bachelor" Nick Viall, who has previously expressed interest in strutting his stuff for the Mirrorball Trophy. However, there is no proof that an offer has been made or that Viall will actually join up.
The next 'DWTS' athletes
Pro athletes have historically done well on "Dancing with the Stars" --most recently, in fact, the final three was comprised of a trio of them that included Olympic champion Laurie Hernandez, IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe, and former NFL wide receiver Calvin Johnson Jr.-- so it's no surprise that the season 24 cast may include a few.
Spoiler source DWTSGossip wondered on Feb. 13 if show producers would try to recruit former New York Giants stand-out Victor Cruz, who was released from the team earlier this week.
Show fan Claire Charness also ignited speculation that the "DWTS" 2017 cast may feature the series' first-ever baseball player when she noted that Sports One Athlete Management co-founder Ryan Gleichowski --whose firm represents pro MLB players-- recently began following the show's official Twitter page.
Anyone else in the mix?
Other names bandied about in recent weeks --according to information compiled by fan site PureDWTS-- include actor Rick Schroder, actress Ashley Benson, and Army Staff Sgt. Jose Medina, who danced with First Lady Melania Trump at the recent inaugural ball. Although there's no indication that any of them were extended an offer for season 24, Medina's inclusion would fit with "DWTS" producer Deena Katz's recent claim in a Glamour interview that the spring cast would focus on "Americana" and "heroes."
So who will actually be part of the "Dancing with the Stars" 2017 cast and yuk it up alongside hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews this spring? Fans will find out officially on March 1, but according to DWTSGossip, "rumors start next week... :)" so keep an eye out and an ear open for tidbits.
