Hoda Kotb is a new mom. She adopted a baby girl much to everybody's surprise except her co-host Kathie Gifford who was sworn to secrecy. The other "Today" show co-hosts had no idea until Hoda called in to the morning show to announce the news on Tuesday, February 21.

Every one was totally shocked, and there wasn't a dry eye on the set after the announcement. According to social media, viewers at home also shed a few tears.

Hoda introduced Haley Joy as the love of her life who was born on Valentine's Day. The 52-year-old co-host on the fourth hour of the "Today" show with Kathie Lee Gifford could not contain herself as she shared the good news with her co-hosts.

She was heard crying during her telephone announcement.

Hoda also posted a photo with her new baby on her Instagram page with a caption that welcomes Haley Joy into her family.

Hoda did not reveal any more information about the adoption of Haley Joy even though viewers wanted to know more.

Reactions over the news

Hoda immediately received well wishes from her colleagues. Matt Lauer was the first to exclaim that Haley Joy is the luckiest girl in the world. Kathie Lee Gifford, who works side by side with Hoda, said Hoda was made to be a mom. Gifford also said that it was hard for her to keep the secret. She admits that she has a big mouth, but she didn't say a word.

You could see the surprise on everybody else's face including Al Roker's.

Hoda has been single for a long time. She was married to Burzis Kanga from 2005 to 2007. Hoda and her boyfriend financier Joel Schiffman moved in together last October after dating for three years. She did not reveal if he was involved in the adoption.

Hoda has a lot of fans who want to know more about her great news. When the television personality returns to work, she will more than likely be overjoyed to share more information. Surely, the fans are looking forward to hearing more.

Viewers already know that Hoda loves children. She is always talking about her niece. Therefore, it is almost a guarantee that she will be sharing different things about Haley Joy.
