"Days Of Our Lives" has been renewed by NBC - finally! After months of being on the bubble and rumors swirling about, fans can relax. Both Jennifer Salke, President of NBC Entertainment and Ken Corday, Executive Producer have spoken out to show their excitement at the news.
The new writer has a new direction.
Ron Carlivati recently joined "The Days Of Our Lives" family as head writer. He has plans to turn the show around from the story lines we have been following. The heartbreaking ending to every relationship that starts will be a thing of the past.
He wants viewers to have couples like Hope and Bo to root for. That level of love hasn't been achieved in Salem in a very long time.
Ken Corday also told us that he liked the direction Ron wants to take the show. To laugh with the characters, enjoy the story lines again. It sounds like we not only get to keep watching the long-running Soap Opera, but we get to see the town of Salem revitalized.
What about the upcoming spoilers?
Prior to Ron joining the show, there had been a casting call for an Immigrations Officer that would be after Darios. There is no update available to tell us if that will be under the old writers or under the new head writer and possibly change. Due to the advance taping schedule of the show, things happen in real life way before it catches up on the show.
With the cancellation of major soap operas on other networks, fans began to worry about the future of "Days Of Our Lives". Other networks were scheduling talk shows instead. With NBC changing the renewal schedule to an annual review, it did make fans think twice about the fate of the show.
Fans can breath a sigh of relief. With NBC renewing the contract, "Days Of Our Lives" will be on the air at least through Fall of 2018.
With the changes in the writer's positions, the show has a great opportunity to increase the number of viewers and have the ratings they are looking for. Continue to tune in to NBC everyday to keep up with what is happening in Salem.
