“General Hospital” spoilers say Daytime Emmy pre-nominations are here - did your favorite “GH” actor make the cut for the 2017 awards? Last year, “GH” won nine Daytime Emmys including Outstanding Young Actor, Lead Actor, and Supporting Actor, plus awards for the production team for casting, directing, technical team, editing, and costume design. “GH” also took the big award for Outstanding Drama Series. So who made the pre-nomination cut this year?

Outstanding Lead Actor

Last year, Tyler Christopher won Outstanding Lead Actor but “GH” rumors hint Nikolas Cassadine may be back.

It’s no surprise that Maurice Benard [Sonny Corinthos] was nominated again for 2017. He did great work as a grieving dad. A nice surprise is Roger Howarth [Franco] who has been front and center as he struggled to find love.

Outstanding Lead Actress

The ladies of “GH” have done solid work in 2016 and that’s reflected in pre-nominations for Nancy Lee Grahn [Alexis Davis] and Laura Wright [Carly Corinthos]. Laura has done standout work and Nancy's portrayal of Alexis' battle with the bottle has been exquisite. Good luck to them both!

Outstanding Supporting Actor

Last year, Sean Blakemore [Shawn Butler] won Outstanding Supporting Actor and this year pre-noms include Chad Duell [Michael Quartermaine] who has been amazing grieving Sabrina and Morgan.

Jeffrey Vincent Parise [Carlos Rivera/Joe Rivera] is a welcome surprise to the list as he always does amazing work, and Dominic Zamprogna [Dante Falconeri] also landed a nom.

Outstanding Supporting Actress

“General Hospital” didn’t nominate any supporting actresses last year, but this year has decided to step into this category.

Michelle Stafford [Nina Clay] was nominated for her work which has pushed boundaries over the past year and so was Finola Hughes [Anna Devane] who has breathed new life into her legacy character.

Outstanding Younger Actor

In 2016, Bryan Craig [Morgan Corinthos] won Outstanding Younger Actor and is nominated again for 2017 despite breaking his contract and leaving the show.

Can he win again? His swan song as bipolar Morgan was stunningly acted. Tequan Richmond [TJ Ashford] also landed another nomination this year although he was gone most of 2016 working on other projects.

Outstanding Younger Actress

Congratulations go to Nelle Hayes [Chloe Lanier] and Hayley Erin [Kiki Jerome] for their work last year. Nelle remains a thorn in the side of Sonny and most “GH” fans and Hayley’s scenes mourning the loss of Morgan were masterful. Also nominated is Lexi Ainsworth [Kristina Corinthos] who may be a lock for a win with her gender fluid storyline

What’s next for the 2017 Daytime Emmy pre-nominees?

All those pre-nominated for “General Hospital” must submit an Emmy reel of scenes from two episodes that are no longer than 20 minutes.

Final 2017 Emmy nominations will be made in March. The final nominations will also include Digital Drama Series and Guest Performers. Bree Williamson [Claudette Beaulieu] might score a nomination for her arc as the Canadian temptress.

General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. It’s a busy “GH” spoilers week. Today we found out more about Jason getting poisoned at the MetroCourt, wicked Olivia Jerome makes bold moves this week, and Elizabeth finds Franco wounded but alive!
