"General Hospital" spoilers reveal huge and surprising upcoming storylines. The chatter is that fan favorite Sean Blakemore may come back to reprise the role of Shawn Butler. "GH" fans know Shawn was the top enforcer for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) after Jason Morgan supposedly died. Rumor has it Shawn could be back to finally be a father to son TJ Ashford (Tequan Richmond). Fans were unhappy about the awkward reveal and lack of closure just as Shawn was unjustly shipped off to Pentonville.

Butler innocent, fans want him freed

"GH" fans were bitter about how "the powers that be" wrote off the character.

Shawn was framed for the attempted murder of Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) when it was Nikolas Cassadine (Tyler Christopher) that hired a hitman to take out Hayden. Shawn was at the scene (aiming for Jake Doe) but did not shoot her.

Fans were outraged that he was sent to prison for a crime he did not commit and no one tried to free him. Shawn Butler has been rotting in prison since 2015 and fans are still furious. No one else in Port Charles goes to jail for crimes they commit and many know he's innocent, yet Shawn's still in prison!

Daddy reveal on the way out the door

As Shawn was sentenced for the attempted murder of Hayden, he found out he was TJ's biological father. Jordan Ashford (Vinessa Antoine) kept her son's paternity a secret TJ's whole life.

There are many unanswered questions in this storyline and if Shawn finally comes back, it can all come full circle, bringing lots of much-needed fresh drama to "General Hospital."

Lately, all the plots circle around Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) gaslighting Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and the awkward love triangle of Drew-Sam-Jason.

It's no surprise that "GH" ratings have taken a beating and the show dropped to fourth place behind "Days of Our Lives." The ABC soap desperately needs some better material and bringing back Shawn would be tremendous.

Blakemore now available

"General Hospital" spoilers from social media are abuzz about a possible Shawn Butler return.

One of the reasons the soap left Shawn in jail was because Sean Blakemore was busy with numerous projects after leaving "GH" but his TV show "The Quad" that aired on BET was recently canceled. Blakemore has some other work, but not so much that he couldn't return to the ABC soap.

Since Jordan and Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) just got engaged, it would be a good time for Shawn to come back and ruin her plans. Curtis and Shawn have a deep history too and the pair are not bowling buddies. Plus, since Aunt Stella (Vernee Watson) hates the idea of Curtis with Jordan, she would be thrilled if Shawn came back and broke up the couple.

Shawn Butler's return could be a huge boost for sagging "GH" ratings and could bring the Ashford family to the forefront of the soap.
