Dak Prescott and Deshaun Watson are both very good young quarterbacks, and they both provide a lot of good options for managing an offense. Prescott is completely unflappable, and Watson is the most dynamic athlete we have seen in the NFL since Michael Vick. Yes, I said that out loud. So, who would you pick between these two guys? They are both very good, but you can only pick one of them to start your franchise. Who would you have if you wanted to win as soon as possible?
Prescott is stable
I can imagine choosing Prescott to keep my team as even and level as possible.
He is the quiet leader who will ensure that the team is not going to get too high or too low. He is so quiet that it would be easy to simply let him manage the team most of the time. The squad would just follow him, and that would help a lot. If you were not a loudmouth owner like Jerry Jones, that would be perfect for you. If you have a big mouth, you might not want Dak because you would overshadow him.
Watson is gifted
Everyone in the NFL is talented, but Watson is really special. You do not spend a couple weeks in the league, come in as a replacement for the starter after a half, play inconsistently for a couple games, and score 57 points in week four. That is just not possible, but it is what Deshaun Watson has done.
I would take him purely because I think that he will always give me a chance to make a play when it is needed. That does not mean that Dak Prescott is bad, but it means that Watson can do more. He is more like michael vick than we want to admit, but he is willing to put in the work and stop running when needed. He is brilliant, and there is a reason why the Texans drafted him.
Texas football is very good right now
The Mecca for football in America is Texas. It is a religion there, and both of these teams are playing extremely well at the same time. Granted, the Cowboys could be falling apart because of the Elliott situation, but they have a good roster. Texas football seems to be alive and well, and these two teams could potentially play a Texas Super Bowl sometime in the future.
I would like to see that, and I would squeal with glee to see these two young quarterbacks face each other. That might seem like a pipe dream right now, but if you consider how good the rosters are, it is possible.
The choice works in fantasy, too
Deshaun Watson seems to be the better fantasy player overall. Prescott is a good choice, but Watson showed that he can make all the throws and runs needed.
