People all have their own standards when it comes to love. More often, it has something to do with the expectations we've set concerning the other person in the relationship. This is not always a good thing.

We've wrapped our heads around the idea that he or she is the one because of QUALIFYING factors. This leads to unrealistic assumptions towards your significant other or your relationship in general.

It's not a healthy behavior at all.

You have to be aware of the consequences if you keep this up. HelloGiggles talks about the Reasons why we need to stop doing this. I've outlined just a couple and hopefully, it can help those who are in a relationship.

What you see is only superficial

When you see your Partner as someone who's Perfect, it may make them hesitant to open up about their imperfections. They may resort to hiding their flaws and covering events from their past. They might tiptoe around you and that's not really who they are. In the end, it might make them struggle or push them over the edge.

More expectations, more disappointments

Because of your high standards of perfection, your significant other may not be able to meet your requirements. They're not the perfect human being you thought them to be. Lower your expectations and don't let them feel pressured to be someone they're not. Be positive about your relationship.

You're putting yourself down

There should be a balance between the two of you. No one has more authority than the other. Your responsibilities and roles within the relationship should be equally divided. This time though, you might think your partner is someone who's superior to you. It may lead to instances like doing everything to please the other person. Don't put yourself down.

You make them feel insecure

The worst feeling that your partner can ever experience is when they know they haven't met your expectations. Little by little, you may find out about their flaws. When they know they've disappointed you, they go down the hellhole. It's not going to be easy for them to get over it. This hits people's egos and it can be pretty frustrating for them.

Love the imperfections instead

It's never too late to change your perspective about the relationship. Your partner is only human. He or she isn't some immortal god or Loving their annoying quirks and little flaws prove that you're in it for the long haul. Your partner will begin to trust you and both of you will grow together.
