Donald Trump is moving forward with his foreign trip through Asia, which continued with a stop in South Korea on Tuesday morning local time. As the president and First Lady Melania Trump arrived in the country, critics on social media took time to poke fun at the first couple.

Trump in Asia

After Donald Trump was able to shock the world with his stunning upset victory over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton last year, millions of people were left scratching heads as to what would happen next. In the weeks leading up to his inauguration, Trump was met with various protests around the country from those who opposed his political agenda, with many accusing the former host of "The Apprentice" of racism, misogyny, Islamaphobia, homophobia, transphobia, and other forms of bigotry that many on the left use as part of an agenda of identity politics.

In the nearly 11 months that Trump has been commander in chief, he's routinely clashed with the majority of the mainstream media, which he has labeled "fake news," while predictably fighting back against Democrats and even members of his own Republican Party. While Trump has struggled to move on domestic-related items like health care and tax reform, foreign policy issues have also been a problem. Earlier this year, Trump ordered military strikes in Afghanistan, while engaging in a war of words with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. With the pressure mounting, the world has been waiting for what took place when the president kicked off his foreign trip to Asia over the weekend, while most recently landing in South Korea, as reported by ABC News on November 6.

With First Lady Melania Trump by his side, Donald Trump and company arrived at the Osan Air Base in South Korea to meet with President Moon Jae-in. The hot topic during the current stop on the trip is expected to be North Korea and how to handle Kim Jong-un's potential use of nuclear weapons.

Trump has publicly labeled Kim as "Rocket Man" and "Little Rocket Man," worrying critics that his reckless rhetoric could lead to long-term global issues.

Upon arriving, Donald Trump walked next to Melania Trump, as both appeared a bit distance, likely due to the stress and fatigue of constant air travel.

Despite this, those who oppose the administration spoke out on social media.

Twitter reaction

As the first couple stepped off Air Force One and arrived in South Korea, Donald Trump and Melania Trump were quickly targeted on Twitter. "Let the embarrassment begin!" a tweet stated.

"Why is Melania dressed up as Neo from The Matrix?" one tweet read.

"Look at that gentleman holding his wife’s hand to make sure she doesn’t fall as she’s coming down the stairs," a Twitter user sarcastically posted in reference to the first couple not holding hands while they exited the plane.

"Look at poor Melania.

He doesn't even acknowledge her walking next to him. Doesn't wait for her. And she looks miserable. That's no marriage," an additional tweet noted. "Like the dictator want to be he is he has Melania walk behind him, never helping her down the stairs. Pig," a follow-up tweet wrote. The negative response continued as Donald Trump and the first lady were the clear targets of mockery and trolling on social media.
