Mercy just received a new legendary skin in "Overwatch" because of a new collaborative event between Blizzard and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Just like the pink ribbon that is synonymous with the fight against breast cancer, this new skin is named Pink Mercy and sports the ribbon as a motif all over. The skin is only available for a limited time, up until May 21.

While wearing this skin, Mercy has a new sound associated with her ability, Resurrect, giving her a trilling piano in the background. In addition, her wings have a glowing pink color and the piano plays while she is using her Ultimate ability, Valkyrie.

How to get the new Mercy skin

Instead of having to rely on loot boxes to receive the skin, players can buy the skin for $15. While it may seem like a steep price, all of the proceeds from this event will go directly to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. In addition, Blizzard has promised to donate an additional $250,000. In an effort to be completely transparent, Blizzard will also reveal how much money the event raises for charity.

Other ways you can show support if you're unable to buy the skin

Of course, not being able to buy the skin isn't a problem as there are other ways to show support in the fight to eliminate breast cancer for good. Community artist vickisigh created the design for a t-shirt for this event, which is available at the Blizzard Gear Store.

Just like the skin, all the proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Another community artist, onemegawatt, created new sprays and Twitch drops for the event.

To get these items, players need to watch special Twitch streams promoting the event.

There are four levels of rewards players can get without spending any money:

  • Tier 1 - The player icon "Ribbon." Players just need to log in to the game during the promotional event.
  • Tier 2 - In-game spray "Ribbon." Players need to watch two cumulative hours of participating charity streams.
  • Tier 3 - In-game player icon "Pink" and in-game spray "Cure." To receive these, players need to watch four hours of participating charity streams.
  • Tier 4 - In-game sprays "Together" and "Pink." For these, players need to watch six hours of charity streams.

In order for players to receive these drops, they'll need to make a Twitch account and connect it to their Blizzard account and watch any stream related to the charity from May 8 to May 21.
