Just recently, Niantic officially confirmed the upcoming arrival of the first “Pokemon GO” Legendary creature. The only catch, however, is that the players at Chicago’s Grant Park must be able to complete a challenge. Regardless, players were still stoked, as their dream of experiencing the special beasts would be true.
According to GameRant, the studio just revealed the times involving the challenges in the forthcoming “Pokemon GO Fest.” This was made accessible to the public via an infographic, which should be enough to keep players updated. However, there was reportedly a mistake, forcing the studio to make amends.
The challenge times changed slightly
Basically, Niantic released an infographic to inform the community of the challenge times in the upcoming “Pokemon GO Fest.” Unfortunately, someone from them made a mistake and thus the studio had to make abrupt changes. The times were originally listed as 11 AM – 11:30 AM, 12 PM – 12:30 PM, and 3 PM – 3:30 PM (all in CDT). These were then updated and can be seen changed in the game’s official site. The challenge around 12 PM – 12:30 PM was changed to 1 PM – 1:30 PM. While the sudden change was nothing of controversial, the fans of the mobile game opted to request for an explanation.
On the official Reddit page of “Pokemon GO,” Niantic confirmed that they intentionally changed the aforementioned time.
The studio clarified that, contrary to popular belief, the challenge has not been rescheduled. Instead, it will take place on a different time slot, which is 1 PM – 1:30 PM. Obviously, the change was insignificant and should not be a root cause of controversy. Nevertheless, the studio cannot blame the fandom to be in utter confusion.
How the Legendary Pokemon will arrive
Niantic revealed that the first Legendary pocket monster will be coming to “Pokemon GO” via the real-world event at Chicago. The challenges will ask players from all the world to work together alongside the players attending the event at Grant Park. They have to do this in order to react the Gold tier rating, which is the ticket the unlocking the said special beast.
Once the players at the park are successful and they are able to defeat the Pokemon as raid boss, other Legendary creatures will be unlocked for the players from around the globe.
Niantic, however, did not offer an explanation as to what would happen if “Pokemon GO” players fail the challenges. Some immediately thought that Niantic will not opt to release the Legendary Pokemon. After all, there was a purpose why the special beasts was included in the real-world event.
