“Death Stranding” surprised the gaming community when the Legendary Hideo Kojima announced it back at last year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). The hype grew the moment the game’s first ever trailer was released. However, since then, the developers of the game have been keeping things under wraps.
The aforementioned “Death Stranding” footage featured the titular “The Walking Dead” actor Norman Reedus. It even included the critically acclaimed filmmaker and director Guillermo del Toro (“Pacific Rim,” “Pan’s Labyrinth). But above all of these, the actor playing the game’s antagonist is no other than “Hannibal’s” very own Mads Mikkelsen.
Sony exec played the game
Apparently, Sony Interactive Entertainment America’s (SIEA) very own president named Shawn Layden was able to play the highly anticipated title. He believes that, in one way or another, the PlayStation 4-exclusive is set to become a massive success in the video game industry. In an interview with The Telegraph, he said that the game is already "up and running." It is worth noting that the game is being built on an engine developed by Guerilla named Decima Engine.
Layden iterated that if not for the efforts of Hideo Kojima in partnering with the aforementioned studio, “Death Stranding” would not have been possible. He even went to confirm that the game already has some prototype levels working, suggesting that its near completion is just around the corner.
“I couldn’t explain to you what the game is,” he noted.
The influence of the game in the industry
It holds true that the developers of “Death Stranding,” deemed as an action game, wants to wrap the game in mystery. Hence no gameplay trailer or whatsoever was released. In fact, even at this year’s E3, the game continues to promote mysteriousness.
This obviously created a massive hype, as players continue to wonder what the title is all about. Also, contrary to popular belief, it will not feature multiple endings.
Layden, on the other hand, assured the community that “Death Stranding” will become a revolutionary thing in the industry. He suggested that there is no game like this one from Hideo Kojima.
The forthcoming title was first revealed to the general public at Sony’s E3 presentation last year. It was just revealed that it is expected to be released sometime in 2019, with no specific date yet. Kojima, however, promised that in the next few months or so, the fandom will soon acquire more details about the game.
