Expedia released a report saying hotel rates in five major U.S. cities were cheaper then they were at this time in 2017. According to Expedia, the most expensive time to fly is June 26 – July 2. The cheapest time to fly is August 21 – September 3.

5. Baton Rouge

One of the most popular places to vacation is Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The entire city is centered around the Mississippi River, which blooms over the summer months.

The city is full of parks, plazas, museums and the popular historic Old State Capital, which stands at 450 feet high. The 34th floor offers stunning views of the area. The historic landmark is often used for weddings and photo backdrops for newlyweds. Expedia reported that average hotel rates have gone down 35 percent.

4. Chicago

Chicago is one of the most fun and exciting places to visit for vacation. Time Out named Chicago the best city in the world this year. Priceline has said Chicago is the top most popular Memorial Day destination in 2018. Hotel rates have dropped down 20 percent.

3. Sarasota

Only 12 miles away from Tampa is one of Florida’s top beach towns. Sarasota has 12 miles of sandy beaches and six islands.

Sarasota’s most popular beach Siesta Beach is best known for its white sand. Hotel rates have fallen 15 percent.

2. Philadelphia

One of the most historical places in the country is Philadelphia. After the Philadelphia Eagles won their first Super Bowl, which saw tourists swarming the area and set a record of 7.2 percent occupancy.

The city is best known for its rich American history, museums, and cheesesteaks. During Memorial Day weekend, there are over 30 events taking place, from festivals to fireworks.

Another popular Florida destination is Naples, Florida. It’s a 30-minute drive from Fort Myers. This quaint beach town revolves around water activities such as fishing, dolphin watching, swimming, and paddleboarding.

Naples is best known for its pier which stretches 1,000 feet into the ocean and has become a top destination in the city. Hotel rates have gone down over ten percent.
