The Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus handsets were released in February during the MWC 2017. The smartphones have received overall positive reviews from users and critics alike. However, since the launch, customers complained about the lack of color options for the devices.

To rectify this issue, Lenovo will now reportedly launch a Midnight Blue variant of the Moto G5 Plus. Images of the handset sporting the new hue surfaced online courtesy leakster Roland Quandt. He shared the images on his Twitter account and claimed that the option would only be available in Latin America.

Midnight Blue color option

Previously, Quandt had shared that Lenovo would soon launch the Midnight Blue hue for the Moto G5 Plus. However, at the time, the tipster was unable to provide any photographic evidence regarding support his assertions. Now, the new image he has shared suggests that the option may be announced for the device in the coming weeks.

Midnight Blue will be the third color option for the handset. The other two options include Lunar Gray and Gold. It not known when the new color will become available for consumers and in which countries.

However, based on the leak and the tipster's assertions, the availability of the new color for the Moto G5 Plus may be limited to Latin America.

Specs of the Moto G5 Plus

The handset comes with 5.2-inch Full HD display with Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, which is clocked at 2.0 GHz.

The device is available in two memory and RAM options. The Motorola handset is available with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage or 4GB of Ram and 32GB of internal storage.

It runs on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat and supports a 3,000 mAh battery. The device sports a 12MP primary camera and a 5MP selfie snapper. The smartphone also boasts a front-mounted fingerprint sensor and offers Turbo Charging support for the battery.

It remains to be seen if the new color also makes its way to other markets. Currently, the device is priced roughly around $230 in the United States. The Midnight Blue option of the handset, when it eventually releases, may bear the same price tag or the company may decide to increase the price for the exclusive color.

Whether the new hue for the handset will entice consumers and help push the sales of the device remain to be seen. Normally, when a company introduces a new color for a device, it helps revive the interest in the product. Motorola would be hoping for the same.
