“The Princess Diaries 3” author Meg Cabot has confirmed that the official script of the movie is now ready. She added that Anne Hathaway, Julie Andrews, and the other cast members are now ready for the film. With this, “The Princess Diaries” is coming back for the third movie in the series.
The original movie was first released in 2001. It was followed by a sequel titled “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement” in August 2004. Nothing followed after that. Hence, the fans have been waiting for another sequel for 13 years. Now, Mia Thermopolis and the cast is coming back with another story.
Meg Cabot revealed script details
In a report published in Express, author Meg Cabot has been revealing bits of information about the new entry to the series. She unveiled that the official script for the movie is ready and its main cast members are on board. Unlike the previous movies, the third film would be different from the events written in the book.
In the “Princess Diaries 3,” Mia Thermopolis’ biracial half-sister seems to be not included in the film. Cabot revealed that in the last version she has read, Mia didn’t find out that she has a biracial young sister. She added that she thinks it’s hilarious. However, the story does not dwell on it too much.
Cabot cannot reveal the specific details of the movie yet.
“I would love to sit and talk about it, but I can't. I'm not allowed but it's really more following the movie than the books,” said Cabot. However, she assured fans that the “Princess Diaries” films are now close to getting another sequel.
Filming updates
Anne Hathaway is keen to get started on the “Princess Diaries 3.” Moreover, Julie Andrews (Queen Clarisse Rinaldi) is also delighted and willing to do the filming of the upcoming movie.
“Annie had an idea that she wanted to pursue about it, and I’m all for it,” added Andrews.
Aside from Hathaway and Andrews, actor Hector Elizondo has also expressed his support for the film. Since the main female stars are on it, he would also be happy to do the third movie. They are now waiting for the final story to arrive and the filming schedule.
