"Rick and Morty" surprised fans on April Fool's Day by making the premiere episode of season 3 available without any notice at all. Ever since we've been hoping and waiting for episode 2 but so far, not only has the season not continued on, those in charge haven't even told fans what date the second episode will drop.

When will 'Rick and Morty' return?

While an actual air date for "Rick and Morty" Season 3, episode 2 hasn't been announced yet, we're starting to see hints about when the show might start airing new episodes on Adult Swim again. Just after thrilling fans with the Season 3 premiere on April 1, the animated series' official Twitter account let fans know that they could expect more new episodes at some point during the summer.

Because of that tweet, the return of "Rick and Morty" can be narrowed down to some point in June, July or August but still many wanted to know the exact date. There are a lot of diehard "Rick and Morty" fans who want to make sure they watch the upcoming episode as soon as possible and not a minute later.

The very first episode of "Rick and Morty" premiered at the end of July in 2015. Many series, animated or not, tend to start their seasons around the same time. Therefore, many fans are expecting Adult Swim to start airing new episodes again sometime around the end of July.

What will Season 3 be about?

The first Season 3 "Rick and Morty" episode was titled, "The Rickshank Redemption" which was a play on the movie "The Shawshank Redemption.

According to IMDB, Episode 2 will also be a twist on a classic movie title. It's called "Rickmancing the Stone" which is a play on the 1984 hit "Romancing the Stone" starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner.

Season 3 of "Rick and Morty" is expected to get even darker than the first two seasons, which are definitely not kid friendly at all.

As episode 1 ended, we even got a warning about upcoming episodes from the voice of Rick himself. As the episode ended, he told his grandson, "It gets darker, Morty. Welcome to the darkest year of our adventures."

That may be because Morty's parents are about to get divorced, as we learned from "The Rickshank Redemption" and the whole thing was set in motion as part of Rick's master plan.

That alone is reason for Morty to be very upset with his grandfather. That new dynamic between the two characters is said to be part of the plotline for Season 3, where Morty isn't going to be as willing of a participant on Rick's interstellar adventures.

What is the 'Rick and Morty' wait about?

During the Sundance Film Festival, "Rick and Morty" co-creator Dan Harmon warned fans that the show would be a bit delayed for Season 3 and even admitted that it was all his fault. Harmon said that writing Season 3 was taking much longer than the previous seasons but made sure fans knew it was coming.

There are also rumors that the "Rick and Morty" co-creators may not be seeing eye to eye on where to take the show anymore.

The Inquisitr reported that Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland had been having fights when they worked together. The report claims that those fights didn't happen during the creation of Season 2 and that their inability to get along and get the job done also contributed to the slow release for Season 3 of "Rick and Morty."
