A tabloid story claiming that Matt Lauer is being fired from NBC's "Today" is following the same narrative as reports published before. Now that Megyn Kelly's hour of "Today" will have her name associated with the morning program's title, there's new energy to cast gossip and all of the so-called behind-the-scenes feuds. Is any of it true or is it the same story as last month and the month before that?

Tabloids claim Megyn is causing resentment among colleagues

In Touch recently reported that Megyn is being groomed to take over Matt's job. A source said NBC gives Megyn whatever she wants and all Matt can do is "stand by and watch." Radar Online had a similar story by reporting that a show insider told them Matt Lauer and other cast members of "Today" are upset that Megyn Kelly is getting top billing for the show after joining the team just a few months ago.

They think she's still "unproven" and having her "name above the title," isn't sitting well with her colleagues. Kathie Lee Gifford has been a leading host for 20 years and "even her name isn't above 'Today's" title, the source said.

Page Six also reports that "Megyn Kelly Today" comes as her summer Sunday night news magazine ends until next year. She'll be taking over the 9 a.m. hour of "Today" on September 25. She'll be hosting the show before a live studio audience. According to the report, Megyn is already shooting for the show on the West Coast.

Megyn's Sunday night show wrapping -- for now

Kelly's Sunday Night Show is struggling with low ratings, but executives aren't throwing in the towel just yet.

They planned for news magazine to have a limited run throughout the summer. It started with over 6 million viewers when she premiered interviewing Russian president Vladimir Putin, but ratings dipped to 3 million in the weeks following. The 8-week run will conclude with an interview with Ricky Gervais. The show is anticipated to return after "Sunday Night Football" and the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Despite the disappointing ratings for Megyn Kelly's Sunday night show, NBC is gearing up for her hour of "Today." With her focus being on the morning program, there's more talk that Matt Lauer is being edged out of his early hour slot.

Gossip Cop corrected In Touch's report that Megyn is being "groomed" to take Matt's place. A higher-up at NBC emphatically denies that Matt is going to be fired.

“Once again, there is no truth to this,” the source insists.
