Google has announced the final name of the new Android 8.0 Operating System. Called the Android 8.0 Oreo, the developer brags it is the more powerful, swifter, smarter and sweeter than any Android release. Unfortunately, not all handsets are eligible to receive the update. Check the list of smartphone devices below that will receive the upcoming Oreo.

Will your device receive the update too?

Due to the issue of Android fragmentation, not all Android phones will have access to the new operating system. Unfortunately, some devices are still running on Android Marshmallow and have not even upgraded to the latest Android Nougat.

Several devices are now eligible to receive the new Android Oreo public beta program. Models such as Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus Player, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, and Pixel C tablet, can now receive the new OS. Once the public beta program has been installed, users can acquire the final build beginning today.

However, if the Pixel or Nexus handsets do not have the beta program, users will have to wait a little longer until the rolling out of the final build. Apparently, Google is still preparing the final build for these models.

The Indian Express also listed the Nokia smartphones that are eligible to receive the new Android 8.0. The latest Nokia 8 was announced to come out with the new OS. Other models like Nokia 6, Nokia 5, and Nokia 3 were also included in the list of smartphones to receive the update.

The new Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+ and the S7 series would also receive the upgrade. Whereas HTC followers could expect the new Android Oreo for the upcoming flagship, HTC U11.

For OnePlus fans, the brand has confirmed to upgrade its OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T and the new OnePlus 5 handsets with the Android 8.0. On the other hand, Sony is expected to use the new update for its Xperia XZ Premium device.

Why would you want to get the Android Oreo?

According to the press release by Android, the new system upgrade could be the newest, “favorite Android release.” The developer said it is faster, more powerful, smarter and sweeter than the previous updates.

The new upgrade allows the smartphone to perform at double its speed. The description says it could boot at twice the current speed.

It could also perform faster tasks through its “Autofill” feature, which remembers the user’s login details for widely used apps.

The new update features Google Play Protect that keeps the device safe from erring apps. The new system promises to scan over 50 billion apps on a daily basis, including apps that are not installed yet.

The new Android 8.0 Oreo is also the most powerful release ever. It promises stronger battery life. It also brags “power and beyond” through its long list of new features including adaptive icons, background execution limits, linkable files, and tooltips. It also boasts of its Project Treble, which is the modular architecture that enables the hardware to deliver updates with ease and speed.
