HMD Global, the Finnish OEM who has revived nokia, promised that it would push out timely Android OS software update for at least 18 months, after the release of the Nokia branded smartphones in the tech market. The firm has repeated the same information quite a few times in the past couple of months. On Sunday, June 30, the management confirmed the news of the rollout once again.
Nokia 3 to receive Android Nougat update
In a recent update, HMD’s chief product officer Juho Sarvikas announced that the newly-launched device would be upgraded to the Android 7.1.1 Nougat by August end. The handset is one of three Android smartphones that the Finnish OEM launched in 2017. Sarvikas took to Twitter and posted from his official account that the Nokia 3 will be upgraded to the latest Android Nougat version by the end of August.
Given that HMD has launched only a handful of Nokia smartphones this year into the market, it should not come as a surprise that the firm will be able to provide timely updates for the same.
That being established, it can be safe to assume that at least some of the Nokia smartphones launched by Nokia this year will be receiving Android O software updates at some point shortly.
Android 7.1.1 Nougat features
The Android 7.1.1 Nougat is an update on the Android 7.0 Nougat OS. The OS provides the user with a wider set of emojis that not only promotes gender equality but brings the female and male emojis for all professions in different skin colors. Apart from that a user on Android 7.1.1 Nougat can also search and send GIFs directly from the keyboard in apps that support the format, such as Google Messenger, Hangouts, and Goole Allo.
In addition to that, the Android N update will not let you bring the app shortcuts directly from the home screen.
One can also launch actions on apps by simply long pressing the app icon. Apps such as Google Maps and Twitter and one can head straight to a conversation on Google Messenger from the app icon itself.
